Default How much television?

How much television do you watch? How about your kids?

I usually watch an hour in the evening on my little kitchen TV while I clean the kitchen and such, but not much else anymore. Depending on what is going on dh will watch an hour or two of history or discovery or science channels in the evenings. (he is a nerd)
The kids, well my oldest has a lot of after school stuff and a job so he only watches on the weekends. He would rather play wii on the rare occasions that he gets home for an hour or two in the afternoons. My second son would watch all day if I let him. I have to limit him. My younger two are the same way, though they also love to watch dvds. I have to limit them, some evenings when they have no activites and I am tired and don't want to mess with them, I let them watch for a couple of hours. On the weekends and summer and such, after an hour I make them go find something else to do.
So what about your family?

I hate to admit this, but I have the TV on - a lot. It's not even that I watch that much TV, I just don't like silence! So if I'm on the computer, the TV is usually on in the background. I bring a lot of work home with me and while I'm doing it the TV is on in the background. I can't fall asleep to silence, so I set my TV to turn off after half an hour and knock out with the TV on in the background.

It's a HORRIBLE habit, and one that I wouldn't allow my children to develop!

The kids in my family all seem to watch moderate amounts of TV. A little in the evening *possibl* - weekends a bit, but nothing excessive. They don't take after their aunt in other words!

Watching T.V has to be controlled by mothers first, then only you can expect kids to be healthy and intelligent. Nowadays kids are allowed to watch cartoons for hours together, thinking that it does not harm your child. But there must always be a limitation in watching any program in T.V. Children must be encouraged for outdoor activity as well rather than making them sluggish and sedentary.
