We've lived all over the country and attended everything from rural schools with little resources, but awesome autism services to large, heavily funded schools in metro areas where they offer little to now services for children with autism.
Currently, we live in the Phoenix area and the services offered by our local school district are amazing. It's the first time in a very long time that I've felt good about my sons education and future. What types of services are offered in the local schools where you live? Good? Bad? Are schools missing the special education mark when it comes to the needs of ASD kids? |

I also live in Arizona, but I have had some difficulty with my school district lately. My son is mainstreamed with an aide and goes out to resource classes. Our problem is not the school or the teachers at the school, is is our administration that is trying to slight our kids.
I am sure there are some areas better than others, but I think it largely depends on who's in charge. That's why I try to recommend that parents get as much information/education regarding how to help their child as well as try to find support such as this. to help them along. |

I am in a rural school district in Texas. Here Autistic kids are usually mainstreamed with an aid. my son wo is in a wheelchair shares an aid with two other kids. One is Autistic and one uses a walker or a wheelchair. The boy who is autistic has come so far that he it's working for him to share the aid, the other two don't really need her except for when they have to use a lift to go down the stairs or sometimes they take a different route to get somewhere. They also all three leave class early to go places so they don't have to be in the crowded hallway.
