Children get too much homework?

Is it just me, or does children seem to get massive amounts of home work? I know they don't have jobs, well most of them, but still, Homework should take up a ton of time, correct? I ask this because I've heard a lot of kids come home with massive amounts of homework, only to work on it until late into the night.

What do you think?
