Default Do you help your child with their homework?

My kids seem to have the appropriate amount of homework for their grades, but I am wondering how much I should need to help out with their homework? Do most Moms have to help their kids with their work? When I was a kid my mom never reminded us or helped us unless we asked, which wasn't too often. Is the work harder? Or are some kids more lazy? I would prefer them to do as much of their own work as possible. How much help do you think a child should need with homework (if any)??

I tell my kids to do it themselves, or to at least try. I offer to check it and with some kids I have to check it cause they lie about doing it! If they ask for help, I will help, but I won't give them the answer. If they won't listen when I am trying to help them, then I won't help them anymore.

I do tend to have to remind my 10 year old (4th grade.) Though he really doesn't have that much. 15 minutes or so of math daily, spelling (get words Monday with a test on Friday) and periodic tests to study for.

He does the math himself unless he is having problems with it and then I will help. I do check it when he is done. I quiz him on the spelling words and review the study guide for tests with him.

I think it really comes down to the particular child. My younger two both start kindergarten next year and I suspect one will sail through school with very little studying and the other will most likely struggle some and have to work at it a lot more. (With more help and more reminding.)

Hi, My wife helps to my son for his homework. My son is very naughty. He doesn't want to complete his homework. He likes to play only. It is our duty, I can say it only.

Yes, I do help my child in home work as she is very small and yet not learn perfection in writing her homework even neatness is also lacking so I use to sit with her and guide her how to write, but yes I never complete her work.
