My husband promised me that we would get married someday after we had been together for 2 years. About a year later, we moved in together (something I never would have done unless we knew we were going to get married) and a few months after that we set a date for our wedding which was almost exactly a year later.

My parents, on the other hand.. they met in May, got engaged in July and were married in September. That was 39 years ago come September.

Well, my husband and I were really young (still in high school) when we met, so we had a long 'courtship.' We had our first date in Feb. 1985. Got engaged in August 1990. And got married in Dec. 1991 after we had both graduated college.

We started dating at the end of October, got engaged the following Febuary (groundhogs day!) and got married in June. We would have gotten married sooner, but right before we started dating, dh's older brother had announced he was going to marry the girl he had been dating for years and they were getting married at the end of May. We felt like we had to let them get married first. So the two weddings were one month apart back in 92 and both still going strong.
