I know most grocery stores have their own generic brand of a lot of items....
Has anyone switched from some of their "name brand" items to the generic brand? Which products do you think are just as good? When do you think we should stay safe and stick with the name brand?? |

I use a lot of store brands. I won't buy store-brand paper products (like tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, etc), sodas, cleaning products, and probably a couple other things. Other than that, I find store-brands to be just as good, if not better, than name brands. One of the worst store-brand items I've tried was Publix coffee creamer.. it made my coffee taste weird. Target and Wal-Mart store brand creamer are fine, but not Publix.

I try not to use the canned veggies or the frozen ones, but when I do I've tried the store brands and they're not bad!
I'm mostly just scared sometimes to try some of the store brands. Vons is usually prette reliable, I think their brand is "Select" or something like that - I've gotten their ice cream...I mean it's no ben n jerrys but it'll do!

We use a lot of store brands. Milk, bread, eggs etc. are almost always store brands, as well as veggies and such. The kids will eat the store brand ice cream and cereal, though I don't like them. I don't use store brand aluminum foil (but I do use the zip lock sandwhich bags, but not gallon size) I don't do store brand bleach, it just doesn't seem to work as well, or store brand laundry soap or dish soap. We do use the store brand hand soap. Also some vitamins and such we use store brands. Of course sometimes at the dollar store the name brands are cheaper than the store brands at the store- just remember to check the expiration date!
