I am in a rural school district in Texas. Here Autistic kids are usually mainstreamed with an aid. my son wo is in a wheelchair shares an aid with two other kids. One is Autistic and one uses a walker or a wheelchair. The boy who is autistic has come so far that he it's working for him to share the aid, the other two don't really need her except for when they have to use a lift to go down the stairs or sometimes they take a different route to get somewhere. They also all three leave class early to go places so they don't have to be in the crowded hallway.
